Best Family Vacation Spots in Nigeria

It’s that time of the year that the rain decides to take a break. Its August break you all. Schools are on break and leave is ripe at work. This period can be filled with a mixture of emotions, anxiety, excitement and adventure for many.
But for some it is adventure, taking that needed break away from home. A serene, refreshing place to connect with nature and people while create exciting memories to last a life time. A place that will lead you closer home. Nigeria has a number of incredible places that will blow your mind away and all you have to do is to take a pick or two from the list of places I complied below for you or your family to vacation.

Seeing pictures of this Disney-like castle, I am blown away that a place like this actually exists in Nigeria. It is located in Kaduna and gives a resplendent view of the breath-taking lush northern mountains and valleys of the Northern city. The castle is made of granite stone edifice and hosts a dungeon, turrets, armoury, and other exciting castle-like places.
The only thing standing between you and this castle is a phone call as bookings are made before visiting. You’ll also want to confirm the level of security in Kaduna before visiting.

Other places you may want to visit;
-Fifth Chukker Polo Resort, Kaduna.

Obudu still remains one of the most beautiful tourist centers in Nigeria. Here’s why; imagine being in a place surrounded by water falls in a lush green garden. There’s also a water park, golf course, cable car, horseback riding within the beautiful Obudu Landscape.
It’s said that the best time to visit is between November and February when the sky is very bright and entertaining activities are at its peak making it a perfect place for family vacation.

Other places you may want to visit;
-Tinapa resort centre, Calabar
-Calabar festival(Africa’s biggest street carnival)holding yearly on the 1st of Dec to the 31st December.

Aha! Before you scroll past in exasperation because for all you care, what this city has to offer is its traffic, right? Lol. Well, there are other things you probably don’t know about Lagos, one being that it hosts the most hangout spots and serene locations perfect for a family vacation.
La Campagne Tropicana is next to the Atlantic and you’ll get to feel the gentle breeze of the Alantic sea amongst the virgin trees. It is away from the bustling city and the views from the resort are breath taking.

Other exotic locations within this area you wouldn’t want to miss;
-Whispering Palms, Badagry, Lagos.

Right on the sothern edge of the atlantic ocean, this island is so beautiful. Just like a typical island, you can only get there by boat. It still remains a hidden treasure as many people don’t know about it yet. Port-Harcourt is the major part of Nigeria that produces oil and gas. The main attraction here is Bonny’s natural environment, luxurious caravans, private hideaways and rich parks.

There are so many other places that I had to divide them into sections to be released every year on August break.

Have you visited any of this places? Do you know of any perfect location for a family vacation? Let’s share it in the comment section below.

  1. Beautiful places. Wow!! Even me that’s a wanderer, I didn’t know about Kajaru castle. Nice work Paula! And yes, La campagne tropicana is a must see in Lagos. A little pricey but totally worth it. After all, people spend millions going abroad. So, spending thousands in naija is good enough. 😄

    • For a wanderer like you, I’m glad you like this one Beks.
      I actually didn’t know about the Kajaru myself, it sure is a must see.
      Thank you Beks.

    • Hi Amara.
      You’ll like La Champagne Tropicana. Looking forward to trying the whispering palms as well.
      Glad to have you here.
